Sri Lanka

Was in Sri Lanka on lin cho man till cho 5. If I have to rate this vacation over 10, I'll give it a 7. Minus marks for the time used to travelled from one state to another on the bus, which sometimes takes up to 5 hours. Minus marks for the lack of fun places (places that are interesting- so far I only climbed the "Rock" below, beaches and visited some temples.)That probably summed up what I did there. I concluded that this trip did not make me a better historian, adventurer and no where near the experience of learning new stuff.

Here I'm at Negombo beach

I'm so lazy to go into details and somehow I know nobody gives a shit about this anyways. But just in case someone is genuinely interested in Sri Lanka, I wanna be the helping hand *figuratively speaking*.

This is what I observed, not something to offend anyone or to downgrade anyone.

1. They still live in a third world century. Obviously it was because of the war (that just ended a few years back) but seriously, they are no where as brilliant as their cousins in India.

2. They sometimes walk barefoot in the city!!!! gasps!!!

3. Their roads or shall I say, trunk roads on most part of the country is as small as a one car fit.

4. Cows and dogs are everywhere as long as your eyes are not closed. Everywhere you see, you can see dogs by the side of the roads, mostly sleeping. Skinny as hell what a pity sight.

5. Their tallest building is 26 floors, which is their World Trade Centre. [in Colombo] AHAHAHAAHAHA.

6. Their main religion is Buddhism. Then Christian... and a minority of Hindu. SHOCKING

7. Their public transports are buses (like our ancient pink Mini bus) and tuk-tuks. And in case you were born in a different country or era, pink mini buses are like our non air-conditioner school buses.

8. OH! fun fact. Education is free to university level and government provides school uniforms, books ALL FOR FREE.

9. They kinda live in individual single story houses with a huge yard and in MALAYSIA, this is considered as bungalows, a luxury. But for them, this is a norm thing. However I must stress that their housing development planning sucks cause houses are not located neatly, eg row by row...

FACTS THAT ARE WORTH YOUR ATTENTION.

  • I once saw wild elephants grazing by the road side! Mother and cubs. OMG

  • Buddhism originated from India. !!!! Buddha is actually a royal prince!!

  • Sri Lanka hotels are not bad at all. At least they served good food and have wi-fi.

  • Sri Lankan women wore Saree that exposed their midriff and you can see their muffin tops. LOL!!!

  • 2 glass bottles of Coke is worth 100 rupees. Equivalent to our own RM2.70. CHEAP!

I guessed that's all. If I'm more hardworking which I highly doubt so, I will post about my daily itinerary the next time. BYE!
