Two Old Fools in Spain Again eBook Victoria Twead
I have been anxiously awaiting publication of this next book in the saga of the author, her family and friends. Just like aged cheese and wine this book brings even more depth and flavor than the ones before it.Victoria delves deeply into the past, present and future not only of her adopted home in southern Spain but also of her own life and family. Like all our lives there are gloriously jubilant moments alongside those of deep sadness. The author treats both with love and respect and manages, as in her other works, to make the reader both cry and laugh along with her.
As always, each chapter is accompanied with a tantalizing recipe that I am anxious to try myself. An addition to this book is a brilliant original painting evoking fond memories of my own experiences in Spain. The cover art is so addictive that while I already own Kindle versions of each book I plan on buying the soft cover editions to proudly enjoy on my book shelves.
Thank you so much for again sharing a glimpse of your very special life with all of your readers. Did you haven't yet read any of these books be prepared to not only enjoy this story but be compelled to read the earlier books as well.

Two Old Fools in Spain Again eBook Victoria Twead Reviews
Another "Old Fools" book and more enjoyment. Victoria makes the everyday life in Spain so interesting. The characters in the village become your own neighbors and friends. I was deeply saddened when a character died because I had met him in the first book and Victoria Twead made him come to life for me. She and Joe did what a lot of us in retirement age cannot do but would love to do. I can live vicariously through her books. The books are humorous and heartwarming as well an engaging.
The magic of Victoria Twead's memoir lies not in sensational happenings or ooh! moments. This memoir is perfectly calm, just sketches of ordinary life in El Hoyo -- all about the normal, small daily happenings in a Spanish village. But what lifts it to the 5-star category is Victoria's witty observations and incredible sense of humour. She sketches the various characters so clearly that we can see them and hear them talking. I have a shrewd suspicion that Victoria embroidered many incidents, but so what -- the story is hugely enjoyable and such an antidote to our stressful daily lives! Even the feral cats and their funny-peculiar hens become character actors.
After reading another memoir recently in which there was not the slightest sense of humor, this one was such a delight. I haven't read her other books, but will now probably download them. Thanks for the fun, Victoria!
I've followed this series by Victoria Tweed and have enjoyed each book. Some of them had me laughing out loud in each chapter and some just chuckling after a few chapters. This book #4 falls in the latter part for me. It is still a good read though. Living in a foreign country was something that I wanted to do when I was younger and now that dream is gone, so I believe that I enjoy this series more than most is because I am living vicariously through her books. It is great to be back in La Hoyo and among the villagers. I always find it amusing to hear about the hens and their habits. I believe this is the last in the series and sure hope she is working on a new one!
Jan. 2018 Just got around to reading this one. I've read all of Victoria Twead's Two Old Fools books as well as some of the others. The Twead's lives are extraordinary, yet I'll wager they don't think of themselves that way. It must have been wistful to realize that their time in Spain was coming to an end, but they made the most of every day during those last few years. I'm confident life continues on as always in "El Hoyo" and I'm a little sorry we won't hear of it anymore. But I'm looking forward to diving into Two Old Fools in Turmoil....probably starting tomorrow.
It is rare to find an author that paints pictures, draws you into the emotion and whisks you away so clearly and cleverly as Victoria Tweed. The Old Fools Series is an absolute joy and her writing style is quick, easy and void of those long, pretentious descriptions of things you could care less about, (that so many authors fall into). By the middle of the first book in this series you find yourself having a vested emotional interest in the adventures of Joe, Vikki, the Eufartes and all the clan of Andalucia. The worst thing about these novels is that there arent more of them. I could read them forever. Im an avid traveller who embraces new cultures and new adventures. Unfortunately, like many of us, I havent the time or money to have as much of both as I would like. Victoria Tweed took me on a journey to Spain that was unforgettable. I highly reccomend all of her books and especially the Old Fools series.
After returning from a not so enjoyable working year in Bahrain Vicky and Joe are thrilled to be back in their peaceful pokey little Andalucian town. They quickly reconnected with their friends who seemed to have missed them while they were gone. Unfortunately, several gangs of unwelcome critters had taken over their home and had to be dealt with and sadly, most of their chickens died.
The Tweads settled in to the life they loved. They got some great news that their daughter in Australia was pregnant. There are strange goings on at the Ufartes house. Paco's daughter falls in love. There is very sad news about one of their elderly friends. They paint the henhouse pink. The Tweads sort of bumbling life goes on in an entertaining way.
At the end of the book Victoria states that this is probably her last "Old Fools" book. I bought this book in 2014 and just got around to reading it and thought that no more books was a little sad. I go online and see there is a new sequel and a couple of prequels. Bought them.
This is entertaining as they all are and I am looking forward to reading the others.
